One of the biggest projects I’ve done for a while now - don’t expect this often! Heh. I’ve never submitted to Let’s Draw Sherlock! before, but it’s high time that I did.
I’m Finnish through and through, so for the culture swap theme I decided to draw Sherlock and John enjoying a Juhannus (midsummer celebration) bonfire. Not only that, I set the scene in mid-late 1940s Finland, giving John a Finnish army hat from that period. My dad always tells me stories of wartime because he was born during the war, his uncle was a soldier, and he also reads a LOT of war novels.
This was an interesting project because I’ve never done lighting like this, where the light from the fire is showing so heavily on the subjects.
